Mr. Sanjay Jain is a knowledgeable attorney with more than three decades of in-house counsel expertise in the print, electronic, and digital media and entertainment sectors. Prior to beginning his corporate career in 1991 with Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., (Times Group), he started his legal career as a practising lawyer after earning his LLB from Delhi University's Campus Law Center-1.
The majority of Mr. Jain's career has been spent strategizing, planning and managing corporate cases in the Supreme Court of India, as well as various High Courts and District Courts of India, brought by or against leading businesses in the print, electronic, and digital media and entertainment industries. These cases have involved corporate issues, writs, IPR issues, arbitration, civil and criminal issues, ROC issues, defamation issues, property-related suits, suits for monetary damages, recovery issues, appeals, revisions, etc. He was in charge of the Times Group, the Essel Group, which includes ZEE and Zee News, and other organisations in the Middle East, Africa, the United Kingdom, and Europe when it came to IPR registration and protection. He was instrumental in helping Reliance Big Broadcasting Pvt Limited secure approval from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) in 2008 for the launch of 20 new general entertainment channels (an ADAG media company).
Among other professional positions, he has held senior positions in Essel Group (including ZEE and Zee Media) and Reliance Big Broadcasting. He served as the management's representative in several high-profile cases while serving as Senior Principal Counsel at ZEE /ZEE News before joining UFO Moviez.”
